Saludos a todos! Just wanted to give an update on how wonderful our family has been since we adopted our 3 children. I had posted about the adoption a few years ago. My husband and I adopted 3 beautiful children in 2004. Two boys and a girl, siblings that were in foster care. At the time, they were ages 2, 5 and 10. My little one just turned 7, my little girl will be 10 in Nov and my oldest is 14. They are wonderful, they have excelled in school and have made honor roll because of their good grades. I want to encourage anyone who is thinking about adopting to not overlook the older children. We had a preference of older children and we were looking for two. When Zaida called us and asked us if we were interested in a group of 3 siblings, our hearts were pounding but we knew that God had a bigger plan for us. We have been blessed many times by these children. It was great having siblings because they take care of each other like no other. They entertain and help each other. We have traveled with them to see snow, and we have cruised the Mediterranean Sea. We visited Italy, France and Spain. We spent 17 days traveling in Europe with them and they were the best behaved children. Our family is the perfect example of a successful adoption of older children. Do not overlook them. You have the benefit of getting to know their personalities quicker and they can communicate with you. My oldest helped me a lot in getting to know the younger children. He would tell me their routines, what foods they liked, if they napped, what they liked or disliked in general. It has been a true blessing and I can't imagine our lives without them. It is a life changing experience. Once you bring children into your lives, adopted or not, your life changes dramatically. God bless everyone and good luck! PS Please feel free to respond to me in Spanish. I do speak and write it. I just post in English for the benefit of those trying to adopt in PR from the states.
